Introducing the FTOCloud Blog
Introducing the FTOCloud Blog
Who am I/Who are we?
My name is Nick Parker, and I am the founder of FTOCloud. FTOCloud builds web-based training software for regulated industries. We work with fire departments, emergency medical services, and law enforcement agencies. Our platform is a cloud-based platform. This means that it is accessible from any internet-connected device and there is no IT infrastructure for our clients to maintain.
I am a career firefighter/paramedic in Rhode Island. My passion is to help others, both at work and in my professional life. It is my belief that well-trained first responders have a direct impact on their community. I have found that there is no shortage of knowledge or passionate instructors when it comes to educating first responders. I have also found that training falls flat on its face when it comes to technology.
Being able to deliver and track training efficiently helps build safer departments, no questions asked. Tracking training keeps personnel from falling through the cracks when it comes to training requirements. The careful application of technology aids in identifying departmental weaknesses, while highlighting your strengths. It builds in a layer of objectivity while allowing for two-way trainer/trainee communication.
While I belive in the addition of technology to a training division, I also believe it can never take the place of didactic training.
You can never train too much for a job that can kill you.
You will find that our platform compliments your existing training plan. It helps centralize your training while providing you tools to help analyze your training program.
Why are you writing this blog?
We have decided to start this blog to document our journey. As a public safety professional, I find it prudent to share the journey of others. The best way to learn is to get as far away from your department and comfort zone as you can, then ask as many questions as possible. All too often we find ourselves mimicking other agencies within a stone's throw of our own. We will use this blog as a platform to help share stories, ideas, and best practices from across the nation.
What can I expect to see?
We will pass along training insights, best practices that we have come across, and customer stories. We will also write about our business journey, some of our processes, and how we are helping to define the future of training. It is our hope to vary the mediums of our posts. We will deliver articles, videos, training materials, and whatever other content we come across that falls under the umbrella of training.
Who should read this blog?
This blog is for anyone. While we are target the public safety industry, the information we share can be extrapolated to other industries. Training-specific content will be great for fire, EMS, and law enforcement personnel. Some of our content will be specific to training staff, but offers an amazing outlook for trainees and job candidates.
At the end of the day, our goal is to improve public safety. This blog is another vehicle to further the reader's knowledge in hopes that you apply what you learn to future training. We look to publish enjoyable, educational content that is designed to build stronger public safety departments.
